Chugach Me Babe – An Alaskan Road Trip With Chugach Mountain Scenery

If you’ve read any of our blogs we’ve posted about travels in Alaska, you’ve surely noticed that nearly every drive here is a scenic one and the one from the Portage Valley and Whittier (post linked here) to Seward is no exception.  Our sunless day could not dim the brilliance of the roadside wildflowers and the never ending Chugach Mountain Range.

Seward, Alaska was the day’s destination and one of the few places where we made reservations ahead of the July 4th holiday weekend.  For this reason, we made very few stops along this drive but did take notes on places we might want to return to.

In lieu of my normal blog post dribble, I’ll give you a sense of this drive to the tune of Sonny and Cher’s “I got you babe” (refresher course in the original song linked here)

If your initial reaction is “no, please no” then just skip down to the video and pics below. Those are surely worth a quick look .

Chugach Me Babe

(Verse 1)
They say nomads that you don't know,
Won't find out until you go.
Well I don't know if all that's true,
'Cause Chugach me, and baby Chugach you, babe.

(Chorus)
Chugach me, babe.
Chugach me, babe.

(Verse 2)
They say today we won’t see sunshine,
But we don’t care with fields of wild lupine.
There may be cones on this pretty byway,
But Moose Pass sights make for a lovely day, babe.

(Chorus)
Chugach me, babe.
Chugach me, babe.

(Bridge)
Chugach me to point out lakes,
Chugach me...to hit the breaks,
Chugach me to pass the snacks,
Chugach me...for all switchbacks.

(Verse 3)
Chugach me as we drive through,
Chugach me, wow what a view,
Chugach me and snowy peaks,
Chugach me, we’re scenery geeks.

(Outro)
Chugach me for twist and bends
Chugach me when this song ends
Chugach me for readers lost
Chugach me it was worth the cost, babe.

(Chorus)
Chugach me, babe.
Chugach me, babe.
