Mad Dash Towards Fall Colors and Something Surprising in Newport

We had missed the fall colors in Maine (too early), but there were a few pops of color in Massachusetts, so it was time to move north into Connecticut and New Hampshire to catch them in full swing!

But first…Cape Cod!

Not sure we’ve ever felt stronger wind!

Stopped in Newport Rhode Island to pick up my new kicks.  You may Newport as a host of the America’s Cup.  It hosted this renowned sailing regatta for many years.  What you may not know is that Newport is also known for its many Gilded Age mansions, which can be toured.

We arrived in Providence Rhode Island too late to tour the capitol building, which we’ve enjoyed doing in other states.  Driving around a bit, we got the impression it’s a big little town.

Fans of the 80s will appreciate that we drove through Mystic and found the Mystic Pizza restaurant.

It was getting dark by the time we hit Hartford Connecticut so it simply got a thumbs up for its skyline in the distance.

Pretty white churches near Farmington and Litchfield reflected what I imagined and hoped to see throughout Connecticut.

Could hardly wait to see the fall colors, which was one of our main reasons for touring the eastern states in 2022!
