I’ve already mentioned that we were fast-tracking it back from St. John’s to Channel-Port aux Basques to catch the shortest ferry possible for the dog. After a couple of days in and around Bonavista (post here) we had one of our longer driving days along the Trans Canada Highway, flying through Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor and ending up in the prettiest boondocking spot in Newfoundland!
Where? Just north of King’s Point near Rattling Brook.
One of our favorite things about RVing the Maritimes was the boondocking. Not only did we stay in some incredible spots, but we always felt safe and, more so than that, welcomed by the local community. This surprised us – but in the best way possible!
This spot, along the Southwest Arm, is a small park (2-3 van max). It sits at water’s edge and looks towards colorful fishing docks in a cove surrounded by rolling tree-covered hills. Flat, serene, and winning views!
There’s a short walk to an 800-ft. waterfall across the street and along Rattling Brook that we highly recommend. If you’re there longer than we were, you could check out the 6K Caribou Hiking Trail at the end of town. Silly, but we also enjoyed the colorful homes and their trash containers.
