From the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge near Indiahoma, Oklahoma we stopped for a few day in Great Plains State Park, which was our last major stop in Oklahoma.
This park is nestled on the other side of the Wichita Mountains and on the shore of Tom Stead Lake. It has a small but clean campground, a boat ramp, mountain biking trails, hiking trails, and granite boulders for climbing. We didn’t find out until after we’d left the area that there are ruins of a 115-year-old mine called the 1904 Gold Bells Mill and Mine. We took a bike ride in the area just to enjoy the nice weather.
