We’ve taken several Maui vacation and it never disappoints because of the things to do on Maui!
We had a fantastic time on our February trip with Doug’s daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter and spent a few extra days there with Doug’s sister and brother-in-law.
Prior to this trip we’d been to Maui alone, with my sister, and with my sister and brother-in-law and we still haven’t seen it all. We’ve
- walked to a lava rock cove where I snorkeled for the first time in my life. Even saw an eel!
- been to several luaus.
- seen Haleakala at sunrise, at sunset and we rented bikes to ride down it. Doug’s even biked up it three times!
- done the art walk in Lahaina, seen a magic show in town, seen the banyan tree, and have eaten hula pie.
- done snorkeling tours, snorkeled near the hotel and had lots of beach and pool time.
- taken the road to Hana, stopped for waterfalls and banana bread. We’ve stopped at Nahiku viewpoint, black sand beach, Hamosa beach, and hiked the Pipiwai Trail to the Waimoku Falls.
- been to the Nakalele Blowhole.
- took a whale watching tour where we heard the whales and saw porpoises.
- even taken a powered ulta lite ride out of Hana and a helicopter ride around the island.
Despite all of this, when we took Doug’s daughter, Kellen, her husband, Corey, and their daughter, we still found new things to enjoy. In fact, sharing some of our favorite areas with new people was incredible and seeing our granddaughter float in the pool, touch the ocean, and play on the beach for the first time was simply the best!
Doug’s sister, KC and her husband Keith now live in Maui and having a local connection was really awesome!
They recommended a walk around Dragons’s Teeth. We ate shaved ice, snorkeled at Po’olenalena Beach, visited Kehi Food Oasis, walked along Secret Cove Beach, and had drinks during sunset at a restaurant where love birds nest! All new experiences.
In addition, this was the first time we’d been to Maui during peak whale watching season and KC and Keith have a very cool two-place, Hobbie peddle boat. We each went out separately with KC and had an incredible time! The videos are pretty fun but don’t do the experience justice. The whales are gigantic yet graceful, curious, playful, majestic, and awe inspiring.
We’ve never vacationed at a different Hawaiian Island and with everything Maui has to offer, I don’t know that we need to. There’s so much to see and do here and if we’re lucky enough to continue to go and take friends and family with us, I’m sure we’ll continue to have an outstanding time!
