The Beauty of Mount Robson and Kinney Lake

Mount Robson Provincial Park is about an hour’s drive northwest of Jasper.  Getting there is half the fun as the drive from any direction offers stunning vistas of pointed peaks and emerald lakes.

Nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Mount Robson Provincial Park stands as a testament to the awe-inspiring power of nature. As Canada’s second oldest provincial park, it boasts unparalleled beauty and an array of outdoor adventures. Here pristine wilderness, towering peaks, glistening glaciers, and lush forests await.

We started our adventure at the Mount Robson Visitor Centre and learned about he park’s natural and cultural history through interactive exhibits and interpretive programs. Did you know that Mt. Robson is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies?!

We stayed in a nearby campground, but had just a day and a half to explore the area.

Arguably the crown jewel of the park is Berg Lake Trail with breathtaking views of towering glaciers, turquoise lakes, and cascading waterfalls. The problem is that this 13.5 mile trek to Berg Lake is likely more than many want to do.  Don’t despair.  A quick bike ride from the campground to the Berg Lake Trailhead, followed by either a 2.6 mile ride or hike to Kinney Lake will provide you with a sample of what this area has to offer.   This tranquil spot is surrounded by the Rainbow Ridge mountains which are reflected in its waters.

Whether you’d prefer to read near a pretty lake or complete an epic hike, a visit to this pristine wilderness is sure to leave you spellbound. So lace up your hiking boots, pack your camera, and have fun in Mount Robson Provincial Park.
