Painted Rock Historic Park has plenty of overnight spots for boondocking.
This area is near Gila Bend, AZ (southwest of Phoenix) and a decent stop if you’re headed from Phoenix to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument.
We literally blew in with the wind to Painted Rock. The RV door caught a strong gust, ripped off of the bottom strut, hit the side of the RV and shattered the door’s window. The safety glass was intact but cracked such that Doug spent some time that afternoon taping both sides of it from top to bottom until we could order a replacement window.
The small rock outcropping in the area is a very short walk from all of the boondocking spots and contains some decently preserved petroglyphs.
