Putting In A Good Word With St. Nick At North Pole

Did you ever write and mail a letter to Santa Claus?  Or maybe help your kids with one?  If you have (or even if you haven’t), you know that they get delivered to Santa at the North Pole, which I thought was at the northern tip of the globe…but it turns out, these letters get delivered approximately 14 miles southeast of Fairbanks, to North Pole, Alaska, where as their town slogan proclaims “…the spirit of Christmas lives year round”!

We rolled into town under candy cane light poles with the goal of stopping at Santa Claus House.  Established in 1952 by Con and Nellie Miller, this house has garnered international attention.  The large Santa sculpture and of course a Christmas tree can be seen from the road.  The house is full of Christmas ornaments, nutcrackers, sweets and of course, Santa is there.

We usually name drop, but Doug, St. Nick and I go way back.  We met him several times at the naughty-list survivors convention and of course during our volunteer work with Gangsta Wrappers.  Given that we now have 3 granddaughters, we felt it was the perfect opportunity to put in a good word, so we did (video below).

In the area, we also saw a sign for Antler Academy to interact with the reindeer, but we didn’t visit the academy this time around.

We never saw the elves, so I assume Santa still has his factory separate and at the actual North Pole.  Let’s face it, the elves don’t need any distractions as they’ve all been given stretch goals this year as it is.  Keeping the factory separate is simply good business acumen.

Despite it being summer, for the hour or so that we were there, Santa worked his magic and the joy of Christmas and the jolliness it brings to children young and old was alive and well at the North Pole.  We had a wonderful visit with ‘ol St. Nick and if the girls keep up the good work and send in their holiday letters, I’m sure that he’ll remember why he added them to this year’s nice list when Christmas rolls around this year.
