Roam Sweet Roam

In the US, when you full-time RV, you still need to have establish a “domicile”.  Having a specific address is needed so that you can vote, register your vehicle, and get RV and health insurance.  Since we sold our Bay Area home, our “home” address is where my mom lives in Montana.  My mom’s nice enough to do handle some of the mail that inevitably ends up there (instead of our mailing service address in Livingston, Texas) and in exchange for her postmaster services we like to do some work around the house when we’re visiting her.

This year we managed to be there for her birthday and my sister and brother-in-law flew in from Vegas for a long weekend.  This meant that maybe for the first time ever (or at least in a very, very long while) all of 3 of her kids, their spouses, (my mom’s “second son”, our family friend, Andy) were with her this year.  We celebrated with a killer BBQ that my brother put together at his new house, which is absolutely stunning!

Other than celebrating her birthday, we bought a new rug, got a new smart TV up and running, cleaned the garage, did some car maintenance, painted a wall and a wooden bench, got the sprinkler system up and running for the summer, made funny Snapchats of one another, saw a horror movie, worked on some appliances and did a little yard work…okay, a LOT of yard work.  I found out that I really love trimming hedges.  LOL!

Doug took a quick flight over to Oregon to see his new granddaughter!    His friend Joe drove over from Portland to spend some time with him too!

Meanwhile,  I spent some quality one on one time with my mom.  We went  to Absarokee to visit friends, a doll show in town, did some tasks for grandma, and I drove my mom and some friends to their dance performance downtown.  It was a fun and productive few weeks!

It’s nice to be “home” for a while and is always hard to leave family and friends, but the next adventure awaits.  So we’re back in the RV.  Roam, sweet roam. 😊
