If you’ve only been to the old Tillamook cheese tour, you’re missing out! The 2018 visitor center has an improved factory tour, plenty of delicious products (especially the ice cream) and lots of fun facts. Given that cheese might possibly be my favorite food and Tillamook might just be my favorite brand, I’ve written a poem to inspire you to go.
This Ain't Your Mamas Cheese Factory Tour
Southeast of Ecola where the rivers do flow,
There's a place that's a cheese lovers dream, don't you know.
The ol' tour had the process and samples of food,
But the new tour they have is slap-yo-mama good.
From the cows grazing freely on lush and green fields,
Comes the 10lbs of milk per 1lb of cheese yield.
Ferment and curdle, cut curds from the whey,
Now "Cheddarmaster" flip it and add pressure their way.
Age it with care and with much dedication,
Tillamook cheese is a culinary sensation.
Cutting a million lbs weekly to get it to you,
Over 100 large loaves made each minute, it's true!
18,000 gallons o' ice cream go daily to stores,
Yearly 8 million lbs of whey powder is yours.
Every slice, every shred bring a smile to my face,
Yes, the Tillamook Creamery is my new happy place.
