Welcome to Ontario!

In the U.S., Minnesota is nicknamed “The Land of 10,000 Lakes”, but Ontario has more than 250,000 lakes and Ontario isn’t even the Canadian Province with the most lakes!

Some fun facts:

  • Almost 9% of Canada’s total surface area is covered by freshwater, which is about 20% of the world’s fresh water supply.
  • Of the 1.42 million lakes around the world with a size over 0.1 sq. km, Canada is home to 62% of them.

We passed quite a few named and unnamed lakes on two travel days in Ontario, including one near the town of Kenora, Long Bow Lake, Blue Lake, and Sandbar Lake.

We stopped only for beautiful sunsets and a make-shift outdoor hair salon!  LOL!
