Anyone who knows us well, knows that I like, and need, my alone time. I’m good at naps. I like to read during large chunks of downtime. I love spending time with people, but I’m not always energized by it and sometimes need recovery time from it.
Doug, on the other hand, never naps unless he’s sick. He can read entire novels in 5 minute segments daily. He has FOMO so even if he’s feeling like a break will usually push through it for a chance to explore more. He seems to have limitless energy.
If you had any doubts about our differences, you’d simply have to look at how we spent our day at Silver Creek Campground in Withlacoochee State Park in Florida.
I read for bit and then Bailey and I took a nap.
Doug took an epic bicycle ride and paddle. He loaded the pack raft on his back and biked to where he would put in. He blew up the raft, loaded his bike and paddled over 4 miles. Then he unloaded the bike, deflated the raft, strapped the raft to his back, and rode back to the RV. I’m exhausted just thinking about it!
One of the things I love most about Doug is that he gets me. He’ll push me out of my comfort zone…often, which is really good for me, but he also understands when it’s just too much. He had great day in Withlacoochee and so did I.
