WONDER WHY THAT RV?

Choosing an RV is like choosing a dog…there’s a huge variety and you need to find one that matches your lifestyle.  Large? Compact? Pre-owned? Made for hauling?

There’s a vast number of makes and models out there so to narrow the search, we agreed that we wanted the RV to

  • Be small enough that we could park it in nearly any camping spot as well as a city parking lot (ruling out class A RVs)
  • Be large enough that it contained an indoor shower and toilet and they were separate spaces (ruling out truck campers, vans and Class B models)
  • Be integrated with the driving cab, rather than towing behind a truck or sitting on a truck bed (ruling out 5th wheels, toy haulers, travel trailers, and truck campers)

With our focus on the class C RVs, we chose the Wonder model manufactured by Leisure Travel Vans (LTV).  Besides meeting our requirements above, there are 4 things we particularly love about this model.

  1. BIKE GARAGE. The Wonder rear twin bed version is the only RV out there with this feature! It’s 500 lb. garage capacity will hold your bikes with additional room to store inflatable rafts, fishing gear, camp chairs, etc.
  1. INTERIOR LAYOUT ACCOMMODATES FULL-TIME LIVING. The Wonder rear twin bed model requires very little daily reconfiguration (e.g. your dining nook doesn’t need to convert into your bed each evening). The only re-configuring we do daily is push the twin beds together to create the king and swivel the dining table between the living /dining room chairs.
  1. QUALITY AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL. Leisure Travel Vans has nice interior and exterior finishes and they’ve done a good job creating a clean layout that maximizes utility. The closets are underneath the beds, shoes are stored under the front step and living room chair, hooks for jackets are just inside the door. They’ve put lighting and dimmer controls throughout and water pump controls everywhere you need it – on the main panel, in the bathroom and in the kitchen. In addition, the bed and bath can be closed off from the rest of the living room to allow for changing or for one person (Wendy) to sleep in while the other enjoys morning coffee.
  1. NO CAB HANGOVER. The front window on the Wonder is awesome!  With no cab hanging over it, every drive feels like a fast-paced hike!

While we did make some RV modifications (post to follow), we’re so far (just a few weeks in) really pleased with the Wonder rear twin bed from Leisure Travel Vans.
